Natural stones have a variance of hardness. Granite, quartzite and bluestones can be classified as the harder stones, although each colour can also vary. Marble, limestone and travertines are softer stones and are sensitive to scratching and acids. These softer stones do vary in durability with marbles being the most dense.
As is the case of all surfaces cleaning is an important part of maintaining your stone top.
